Day 4--Jiufen Old Street

Do you know why Jiufen Old Street is called "Jiufen"? Actually, "Jiufen" means nine portions in Chinese. Back in the old days, there were nine families living in Jiufen, which is located on top of the steep hill. It was very inconvenient for the people up there who did not have car transport to walk down the hill to buy some groceries. So, when a person a few persons from one family walked down the hill to buy something, they always bought in nine portions for each of the things they bought. And that is why the place is called "Jiufen".

Now the place has become one of the famous attraction in Taiwan and is super crowded during holiday season.

One of the must try food in Jiufen is 魚丸伯仔, a restaurant that sells fish ball soup. The food they served has nothing too special but it is cheap and delicious. So definitely give it a try when you visit Jiufen!

Look how steep the hill is XO

By the way, there is great place for anyone who is tired to chill. Click the link below if you wanna check out more!

Some other food you can try there are 阿蘭草仔粿 (personally I think it's something like Ang Ku Kuih but the fillings are different), 賴阿婆芋圓 (famous dessert in Taiwan--Taiwanese Taro balls) and 舊道口牛肉麵 (beef noodles!)

Don't worry about the transportation if you are travelling alone or with family. Based on my searching from the internet, there are bus services that will bring you to your destination! You just have to go to ZhongXiao Fuxing Station and take the first exit, and you need to walk for a few minutes to arrive at the bus station. If I'm not mistaken it is somewhere near and under a flyover.
